Wi-Fi Beacons are a means to re-use existing Wi-Fi devices in your infrastructure and add them as Beacons. Wi-Fi Beacons are compatible only with the Android SDK v2.1.12 and above.
How to add a Wi-Fi Beacon?
- Log into your console.
- Click on Beacons.
- Under Beacon Provider, select WiFi Beacon.
- Select a Place to apply it to (mandatory).
- Add the MAC Address.
- Configure the detection distance trigger based on the transmission power (dB).
- Save changes.
IMPORTANT: On Android Pie this feature may not work as expected due a limitation Google added on this OS version. Specifically, the MOCA SDK cannot perform scans as often as before, reducing the detection reliability of the Wi-Fi beacons.
We expect Google to fix this limitation in the near future.
